More Storms

A few more storms hit Austin yesterday just before sunset. Afterwards, there were some really crazy clouds in the sky so Ethan and I went out to grab some pictures. Here is the first one, along with a strange flower with buds I found in the backyard.

Microburst hits Back Yard

You may have noticed some intense clouds around Austin the last few days. They’ve resulted in a series of storms that have done a lot of damage. Below are some pictures of a the clouds and the resulting huge tree that was knocked over in our back yard. I’m glad there are a lot of illegal aliens around to help us cut it apart and get it out of here.

More pictures from around Austin

Here are some more pictures from around the capitol. There is an underground office complex that sits just north of the dome where a lot of state offices are run. They have these long rows of sky lights that make for some interesting pictures. Here are some photos from within and without:

Popping Around Austin

I got back from Costa Rica to a very hot and humid Austin. But there were some pretty clouds in the sky so I went down to the capitol to take some pictures. I was going to try to find some politicial figures in compromising positions, such Bush getting a crude-oil rub down from Kenneth Lay on the back lawn, but no such luck.

Sunrise in Jester

I had to run to an early morning meeting yesterday, but I stopped on the way out of the neighborhood and grabbed these pictures of a nice sunrise. That second picture is the big Jester hill that is the start of the Jester King of the Hill 5K.

Town Lake

I grabbed these pictures today of Town Lake. It was a pretty hot and humid day here, but I climbed a hill about a half mile from house and snapped these pictures. I think they turned out pretty nice.

Flowers Blooming

The flowers are starting to bloom in our backyard. Here is a picture of a special species of Columbine called Remembrance growing on the deck. I found out afterwards that a portion of the sales goes to increasing “diversity and tolerance” in public schools. I wish we could take it back to the store and, instead, buy a plant that promotes “math and history” in public schools.
