Floating over Kinross

Great Interview with Richard Dawkins and Sam Harris

I listen to almost all of Sam’s podcasts, but here is a recent one that was very interesting with Richard Dawkins.

Daily Photo – Floating over Kinross

Sometimes, we take our workshop out to the Gibbston Valley area so they get to see this beautiful area near Queenstown. There is a semi-new place there called Kinross where they have wine and food and of course amazing views. This is a shot from above I got with the Mavic.

Using Adobe Spark to Build a Website

Passport Sunday!

If you’re a Passport Member then today you’ll see a little how-to explaining how I built the website for renting out my New Zealand home. It was a really fun project and I figured out a few more things about the process!

Using Adobe Spark to Build a Website

I think you’re going to really enjoy seeing how easy it is to build a website nowadays! Adobe Spark is included with most of the basic memberships, and I use quite a bit to make a variety of websites. When I decided to rent out the other house on my property, it was an obvious choice. Anyway, in this video, you’ll see how I made the “Secluded Paradise” (that’s the new name haha) website.

The Dragonflies at The Hills

A Normal Day in China

After going to China about a dozen times, I can confirm this is pretty accurate.

A normal day in China from funny

Daily Photo – The Dragonflies at The Hills

The Hills has some of the most amazing art scattered all over the property. This one happens to be the work of the uber-talented Mark Hill. He has cool works scattered not just all over the coarse, but all over New Zealand. Even better, he’s a heck of a nice guy! I’m amazed at what his creative brain can come up with!

Balloon over Lake Hayes

Jim Carrey

Here’s a great video about Jim Carrey and his paintings.

Daily Photo – Balloon over Lake Hayes

This balloon company was nice enough to invite me out on a ride, but I’ve never taken them up on it! I don’t know why… I’m not THAT busy! I bet it would be absolutely beautiful too. I’ve flown over this area many times in a helicopter and taken photos, but that’s always a bit of a rush. I think being on a balloon would be very calm and relaxing, allowing you to take all the time you need to compose photos of beautiful Queenstown.

My backyard in the summer

Don’t forget you can rent out my house in New Zealand!

We’ve put it up on AirBnB, but you can find out more by coming directly to this site? I hope you like all the pictures and amenities!

Daily Photo – My backyard in the summer

Here’s another photo that I did not put on the website for the new AirBnB because I felt there were way to many photos on there anyway! But, since it’s hard to take a bad photo around Queenstown, you end up with a ton of extra photos anyway! One of my favorite things about these grasses is how they flex and wave in the summer winds.

Cute but Impractical

Matt Conti on Africa

My new friend Matt Conti has made an amazing journal entry about Africa! Wow – that was a lot of work Matt! Great job and amazing photos!

Matt came out to my workshop there in Africa… so, don’t forget to sign up for the upcoming one in New Zealand!

Daily Photo – Cute but Impractical

I really do almost zero shopping, being a minimalist and stuff. However, I do like to walk into quirky looking stores to be amused and take a few photos. Like this place, in San Juan, Puerto Rico, for example. Seeing little things like this brighten my day with a little surprise here and there.

Max Patte Art at the Hills

Fleabag Season 2

I talk about this show all the time… Here’s a trailer for Season 2 of one of my favorite comedies. I think this lady is a genius:

Daily Photo – Max Patte Art at the Hills

Max Patte is a very interesting artist from here in New Zealand. Any of you that have been to Wellington may have seen this same sculpture on the harbor. If you’re at The Hills, you’ll see the same piece in a slightly different setting. It’s amazing how much a setting can change the way you read a sculpture.

Luma in Queenstown

Nomadlist

Have you ever checked out Nomad List? It’s a great site for digital nomads that are homeless and like exploring the world… it’s an amazing site. I am using it to possibly find a cool area in Thailand.

Daily Photo – Luma in Queenstown

Every Winter here in Queenstown, there is a mini-Burning Man. Well, it’s a bit more like a Freezing Man because it’s usually below zero! My friend Duncan is part of the planning committee and he’s a fellow burner like me. It was such a transformative experience in his life that he wanted to bring as much of the experience to Queenstown as possible. There are a lot of art installations, performances, and all sorts of things to entertain.

Final edits on a vineyard photo

Join Passport Sunday!

Today we have another how-to video for Passport Sunday Members! It joins the hundreds of others that are in there waiting for you to discover them! In today’s video, I work with a panorama of a beautiful vineyard near Picton, New Zealand.

Final edits on a vineyard photo

As much as I love Aurora HDR, it still has a few problems that you have to correct with Photoshop. It’s less than 1% of the time, but this is one of those cases!

The North Part of the South Island

Another Strange Video

I’ve been looking at software for a new art project and I stumbled across this video. It gets RATHER TRIPPY beyond the 2 minute mark.

Daily Photo – The North Part of the South Island

How beautiful is this area? After I dropped off Ethan in Picton, I took some time to drive around and explore that area. If you look at the MAP of that area, then you can see there are countless little bays and coves. Each one is just as beautiful as the next. You can also see that most of that area has no roads at all… so I would often drive to the end of the road and then fly the drone from there.
