No Pants Retreat!

Grab the 2015 Presets Now!

We tried a fun experiment last year where we released new presets for Lightroom every month. Now we’ve wrapped them all up into a mega package with 120 presets for 2015!

Daily Photo – No Pants Retreat!

Here’s one of the many highlights of last year… we had a rather amazing photography and yoga retreat at Aro-Ha. At the end, we took everyone up in helicopters to the top of a mountain and along some glaciers to take photos and have wine! When it came time for the group photo, we all just took off our pants… great fun haha!

Hiking in Queenstown

Upcoming Workshops

Don’t forget to check out our workshops page to see stuff that may magically appear there!

Daily Photo – Hiking in Queenstown

Every day at Aro-Ha we went on a different hike. This photo is a pretty big pano taken about halfway through our trek. Who’s that guy? That’s Mostafa! He came all the way to New Zealand to participate in our workshop from Saudi Arabia. I really enjoyed hanging out with him and talking… some of these hikes went on for hours, so it gave us plenty of time to get to know one another!

Thar She Glows

Slack

Have you ever heard of Slack? It’s a really cool tool for teams to communicate… they don’t sponsor the site or anything… but we all use it here at Stuck In Customs to keep the team communicating since many of us are far apart… all over the world!

Daily Photo – Thar She Glows

Here’s a new favorite shot from down here in New Zealand near Glenorchy. We took our photo group out one morning for a hike, and we pulled off the side of the road when we saw these beautiful lighting conditions. It’s very unusual, and I don’t often get to see this kind of morning light coming in under a heavy blanket of clouds…

Daily Photo – Running Out on the Lake in Glenorchy

I notice that my youngest daughter Scarlett gets a little extra spunky when she wears pigtails! Here we are out on a family walk in Glenorchy through the wetlands. I highly recommend this walk if you’re in the Queenstown area!

Walking to Yoga

Daily Yoga

I yoga pretty much every day now! It’s so great… really been enjoying it. The days I miss are the ones where I am just way too crazy-busy. I’m trying to keep it up while on the road but having a bit of trouble on some da

Daily Photo – Walking to Yoga

This is the view at Aro-Ha when you are walking to yoga from the spa area. Not a bad view, eh? That lake out there is Lake Wakatipu and if you follow it around to the left, you get to Queenstown. If you go around the other way, you get to Glenorchy!

Pausing for the Reflection

Some of the creation process

I went out to go get a bunch of reflection shots and made a few videos! I did a fun deal with WD to help promote it too, which was a pretty fun thing… anyway, you can see more below!

Daily Photo – Pausing for the Reflection

Here’s one of the many reflection shots I got that day… that was fun! It’s not like I need an excuse to run around and shoot, but I thought putting together some tips on getting a reflection shot would be a good idea and mission!

Running Through Glenorchy

Best app for finding hiking trails?

Does anyone know a good app for this? I’ve mostly been using Google Maps, but I know there are a lot of hardcore hikers out there, so I thought maybe someone has made the “ultimate” app.

Daily Photo – Running Through Glenorchy

One day we went out for a little family walk through Glenorchy. As usual, my two little girls ran around everywhere like wild animals… and, as usual, I had my camera. It was a good day… one of those that starts out a bit cold but everything warms up as you start walking around!

If you come out this way, be sure to go on this walk in Glenorchy… everyone knows about it… a super small one-horse town and the walk is easy to find… just ask anyone you see wandering the streets!

Flying over Perfect Lakes

Choppy at Over-the-Top

If you ever head to Queenstown and want the ultimate chopper experience, be sure to check out Choppy at Over-the-Top. She’s a good friend and an amazing pilot. Also, since she’s a photographer, she knows how to find all the best spots!

Nonstop Critiques!

We had a really fun critique session a few days ago. We selected a lot of images from Apprentices at The Arcanum and did lots of sharing!

Daily Photo – Flying over Perfect Lakes

A chopper flight (with Choppy!) from Queenstown to Glenorchy can take you over a few hidden lakes. Here is one of them, looking amazing in this strange light one afternoon. One cool secret thing about this lake is there is a tiny little hut at the end where you can stay for the night. No one lives there, but you can just hike in, bring a little dinner with you, do a little fishing, sleep and get all cozy-cozy, then wake up and hike back out. Sounds awesome!

Pig Island and Pigeon Island

A New Perspective

Believe it or not, the same islands from below are seen here, from ground level! It kind of reminds you of how completely mind-blowing things are from above!

Daily Photo – Pig Island and Pigeon Island

We flew with Choppy over these amazing tiny islands in the middle of Lake Wakatipu on the way to a really cool ranch. They say that these islands are so named because they look like those animals from above. Well, here I am, and I can’t say that I see it! Can you? I’m not even sure which is which. I assume “pig” is the bigger one, but, well, it doesn’t look so piggy.
