Shanghai – Stuck in Customs

Sneaky Fun New IG Crop

It’s maybe a bit of a bug and who knows if it’ll even show in this embed but you can do a super tall post on IG now.
1) Select to post on IG from the Meta Business Suite on your desktop/laptop.
2) Do the text, don’t upload the image yet.
3) Upload the image and as it’s uploading immediately hover over the publish button.
4) Publish becomes clickable for about 0.1 seconds before the error kicks in about the crop being incompatible.
5) Whack the publish button during that 0.1 seconds!
6) Done.

Rainstorm in Shanghai

Daily Photo – Rainstorm in Shanghai

The Pudong area of Shanghai is pretty much completely empty at night. No one lives here, so it’s a great time to go out and take photos. I was staying in the Ritz-Carlton there at the top of the hotel on the right. It was a great place to base myself because I could easily pop down to go walk around and see all the incredible Blade-Runner buildings.

I’d often have the BEST time walking around by myself, listening to music, and usually have a Gin & Tonic cocktail in my water bottle. This is back when I used to drink (I don’t any more after an Ibogaine ceremony) – but, I must admit, I certainly had a great time on these solo nights.

Shanghai in the Rain

Weird bug today … so if you see this text twice, sorry! 😀
Here’s a photo of Shanghai on a rainy evening that I recently re-processed with Luminar Neo (this is not a paid post – I don’t do those). I’ve been using it a ton lately and trying to wean my way off of Lightroom. I still keep my master library of 800,000 photos in there, so I kind of have a foot in both camps. If you are confused by this, then you should be in my brain where confusion also abounds.

Shanghai Without the Lights

Daily Photo – Shanghai Without the Lights

Shanghai is one of those cities that absolutely comes alive at night, just so amazingly vibrant. During the day though and especially when there is a storm or mist in the mornings it has an entirely different feel.

Exploring Shanghai

Daily Photo – Exploring Shanghai

In Shanghai an old industrial area has been converted into an art space. We arrived a bit late to go inside but there was still plenty of fun to be had wandering around and grabbing some night HDR.

The Disney Store in Shanghai

Daily Photo – The Disney Store in Shanghai

This entire area of Pudong completely empties out at night. I was like literally the only person walking around the streets. It was kind of eerie in a post-apocalyptic kind of way. It did make for some great photos… I just had on my earphones and was dancing around with my tripod like a loon. I’m sure if any Chinese people did actually see me… they’d be thinkin’ “Man, these tourist people are crazy!”

Shanghai at Midnight

Daily Photo – Shanghai at Midnight

Pudong is the Blade-Runner area of Shanghai and it’s pretty much empty at night. There are not many hotels there and there are no living areas for the Chinese, so it’s pretty much a ghost town every night. You can just walk around and take as many photos as you can until you are exhausted. It’s a bit weird and lonely in a way because there is nobody else around… no convenience stores… no restaurants… no bars… it’s just a bunch of office buildings sleeping for the next day of activity.

Art Tour in Shanghai

Daily Photo – Art Tour in Shanghai

Here’s a rarely visited area of Shanghai where this old factory has been converted into an art space. Unfortunately, we got there too late and we could only kinda look through the window. There was a lot of contemporary art in there that looked completely confusing, so it’s probably just as well that I didn’t go in… I could be confused from the outside rather than be confused from the inside.
