The Mushrooms Grow

Anything I should add to my new SmugMug Review

I updated my SmugMug Review recently and am planning to go back for some updating. Anything I should add that you can think of?

Here is My New SmugMug site in case you haven’t seen it… I’m very happy with it! πŸ™‚

Daily Photo – The Mushrooms Grow

I was having some fun with this shot.

The best time to shoot there on the Disney ship was early morning. Most everyone was asleep because most people stay out late. This gave me a great chance to take photos without a bunch of people in the shot. For all the interior shots, I used tripods. Even though the whole boat was moving, everything inside the boat was moving in a relative manner, so it worked out easily.

Endless Sunset in Alaska

Arrested Development

Anyone watching the new season of Arrested Development? I’ve started re-watching the first few seasons to get ready for the new ones… I’m very excited Netflix brought it back. I hope they bring back Firefly next! πŸ™‚

Daily Photo – Endless Sunset

Here’s another recent sunset from Alaska. I took this one evening after dinner when I went on a stroll on Deck 10. These are all handheld, as I see no use in using a tripod on a ship to shoot off the edge of the ship.

I was a little worried about noise, but it was all handled more than easily enough in Lightroom and Photomatix.

The Walt Disney Theater on the Disney Wonder

What this looked like

Here’s what the photo below looked like when I shot it. I take these a lot with the Google Glass — I’ve also been working on a bunch of videos were are going to release for a secret new project! πŸ™‚

Daily Photo – The Walt Disney Theater on the Disney Wonder

Here’s another new shot from the recent cruise up to Alaska. We went to this theater every night to see something different. The kids always had a good time and they put a ton of work into the shows. Maybe the kids’ favorite part was the snacks… I dunno… but I do know the snacks played no small role!

In case you missed the video while I was up on CN Tower in Toronto to take this photo below, just click that link and you can watch on YouTube.

Mirrorless Cameras and Post-Processing on This Week in Photo

Here is a fun interview I did with Frederick Van Johnson from TWIP recently. Enjoy! πŸ™‚

Daily Photo – The View from CN Tower in Toronto

While walking around the top of the tower, I was taking photos with both cameras – the Sony NEX-7 and the Google Glass. Of course, I ended up getting better photos with the Sony, and here is one of them below.

Great Night in Toronto

TBEX – The Future of Travel Media in Toronto

Thanks again for TBEX – I had a fun time during event in Toronto. I look forward to going back… it was a cool city!

Google Glass atop the CN Tower

This was the tallest free-standing structure in the world for 34 years until the Burj Khalifa was finished in 2010. I went out on a walk around the edge to take photos (and record video) with Google Glass and the Sony NEX-7.

Daily Photo – Great Night in Toronto

After a super-long day, I decided to make it super-longer by joining all the TBEX crew over at a party on Centre Island. I’m not a total expert of the-best-places-to-shoot-Toronto, but this area seems good enough!

This was a three-photo HDR taken with the Sony NEX-7. I’m still working on that larger story where I compare the NEX-7 to the Nikon D800… that is coming soon…

It was quite a rainy night, so between squalls I ran out there to take a bunch of photos. Since my tripod was lost, I had to borrow a tripod from good man Edgar Van Der Meer. Thanks again Edgar!

The Lion Gate of Vancouver

This is the prettiest bridge that leads to Vancouver. It looks cool from just about any angle, so it was fun driving around, skirting the coast, checking out all the vantage points.

You also take this bridge when heading north to Whistler, which is another cool area. I’ve never been there in the winter… I need to get up there and get my snowboardin’ on!

The Docks in Vancouver

Everyone in Vancouver probably knows this building, but, being an outsider, I found it kinda cool.

Strawberries

Here are some strawberries from Granville Island. See, they are right there. I have no additional or witty commentary on these strawberries.

The Crystal Ark, Granville Island in Vancouver

Okay back to normal pictures for a while… or normal to me, at least. This is the brightly colored Crystal Ark in Vancouver on Granville Island. I think it was a kid’s toy store or a gun shop. One of the two.

Aquabus floating on Vancouver’s sea of mercury

Vancouver is perhaps the grayest city I have ever visited. The buildings have been ordained by the government to maintain roughly the same color as the clouds at all times. It it wasn’t for these colorful Aquabai, it would be like one huge Take On Me video.

This was taken on Granville Island on a Sunday morning.
