Cruising through Tracy Arm

Time Lapse

I met a guy on the front of the boat that had his tripod set up and he was taking a cool time lapse as we turned this way and that through the fjords. I can’t seem to find it online… maybe he hasn’t published it yet, but I’ll share it when I can find it.

Daily Photo – Cruising through Tracy Arm

We had a nice unexpected treat when we entered the Tracy Arm fjords during the Alaskan cruise. A woman came to our table one night and invited us to the the front of the ship, which turned out to be the perfect spot to take photos! I spent most of my time hanging off the edge of the boat in dangerous ways… but I did turn around at one point to take this photo… you can kind of see the setup.

Nighttime swim at the Four Seasons Vancouver

Lunch at Yew and Playing Space Team

This is kind of just a fun video… you can watch my family sitting around playing a fun iPad game called Space Team. 🙂

Daily Photo – Nighttime swim at the Four Seasons Vancouver

Once my kids discovered the hotel had a pool, that was the end of any more time in the room… I did manage to take a break to get this photo though so I can share the scene with you all! 🙂

The Earthly Lines

Marketing for Photographers

This my #2 request! I don’t sell get-rich-in-photography guides or business-y videos or anything like that… BUT, +Frederick Van Johnson does! (he’s the famous host of This Week in Photography!) I always point people to Fred’s “Essential Web Marketing” videos… he passed along a discount code to you interested folks of STUCKINCUSTOMS to save 25% on his website. Keep going Fred – happy to send people your way! I hope people love your videos and get a lot out of them… and enjoy this little interview below in the meantime. 🙂

Daily Photo – The Earthly Lines

The waters went suddenly calm all around the ship and the sky stretched out forever. I had just seen a pod of whales and we were weaving around new areas of the fjords. I knew I was in Alaska then!

The Mushrooms Grow

Anything I should add to my new SmugMug Review

I updated my SmugMug Review recently and am planning to go back for some updating. Anything I should add that you can think of?

Here is My New SmugMug site in case you haven’t seen it… I’m very happy with it! 🙂

Daily Photo – The Mushrooms Grow

I was having some fun with this shot.

The best time to shoot there on the Disney ship was early morning. Most everyone was asleep because most people stay out late. This gave me a great chance to take photos without a bunch of people in the shot. For all the interior shots, I used tripods. Even though the whole boat was moving, everything inside the boat was moving in a relative manner, so it worked out easily.

Endless Sunset in Alaska

Arrested Development

Anyone watching the new season of Arrested Development? I’ve started re-watching the first few seasons to get ready for the new ones… I’m very excited Netflix brought it back. I hope they bring back Firefly next! 🙂

Daily Photo – Endless Sunset

Here’s another recent sunset from Alaska. I took this one evening after dinner when I went on a stroll on Deck 10. These are all handheld, as I see no use in using a tripod on a ship to shoot off the edge of the ship.

I was a little worried about noise, but it was all handled more than easily enough in Lightroom and Photomatix.

The Walt Disney Theater on the Disney Wonder

What this looked like

Here’s what the photo below looked like when I shot it. I take these a lot with the Google Glass — I’ve also been working on a bunch of videos were are going to release for a secret new project! 🙂

Daily Photo – The Walt Disney Theater on the Disney Wonder

Here’s another new shot from the recent cruise up to Alaska. We went to this theater every night to see something different. The kids always had a good time and they put a ton of work into the shows. Maybe the kids’ favorite part was the snacks… I dunno… but I do know the snacks played no small role!

The Lion Gate of Vancouver

This is the prettiest bridge that leads to Vancouver. It looks cool from just about any angle, so it was fun driving around, skirting the coast, checking out all the vantage points.

You also take this bridge when heading north to Whistler, which is another cool area. I’ve never been there in the winter… I need to get up there and get my snowboardin’ on!

Strawberries

Here are some strawberries from Granville Island. See, they are right there. I have no additional or witty commentary on these strawberries.

The Crystal Ark, Granville Island in Vancouver

Okay back to normal pictures for a while… or normal to me, at least. This is the brightly colored Crystal Ark in Vancouver on Granville Island. I think it was a kid’s toy store or a gun shop. One of the two.
