On the Way to Mount Cook

Funny Airline Video

Economy, for your comfort from funny

Daily Photo – On the Way to Mount Cook

If you’re up near Mount Cook on the South Island of New Zealand and want a cool reflection shot, here’s a tip! There’s a big lodge there and if you start driving on the roads behind it that seem to go nowhere, eventually you’ll find this water treatment area. I know… I know you expected a lake. And, I suppose, it’s sort of a lake, even if it is man-made. Anyway, because it’s so small, there’s a good likelihood of getting a clean shot.

Glacier Walk

Funny Mitsubishi Blooper Reel

This blooper reel should be the commercial!

The costume department had One job! from funny

Daily Photo – Glacier Walk

I don’t have a lot of photos of myself out in the field because, well, I don’t really want it to be about me. Does that make sense? Other people do that, and that’s fine… I just would rather remove myself from the visual equation. But, on this occasion, my friend Stu got a photo of me walking in front of the Taylor Glacier (I think that was the name?) in the Dry Valleys of Antarctica.

Atop Deer Park Heights

Can’t Trust the System

Daily Photo – Atop Deer Park Heights

Here’s a pretty view from when I took a workshop group up here one morning. The lake was like a huge mirror and perfectly still. I think we all walked around it a few times to get every possible angle. If you look over to the left, you can see, of all things, a North Korean prison. It was used for some terrible Disney movie decades ago. It’s since been demolished because people thought it was an eyesore, but I thought it was kinda cool!

Flying to Antarctica

Rocket man

Wow these guys in Dubai are nuts… they’ll do anything. Check out this new jetpack thing. I was really surprised about halfway through the video!

Daily Photo – Flying to Antarctica

Somehow I talked my way into the cockpit of the LC-130 on the 10-hour flight to Antarctica. There was a lot to see up there! Thankfully, I brought my fish-eye lens, which is a lens I hardly ever use. I mean, like, hardly ever! I almost didn’t pack the thing… but there was no weight restriction, so I thought, why not? My why nots do not always pay off but this one did.

Photowalk in Antarctica

Great Podcast with Sam Harris and David Whyte

I love this David Whyte guy! I actually got to see him perform a few months ago in Glenorchy. I didn’t expect a poetry reading to be so incredible!

Daily Photo – Photowalk in Antarctica

Well, I didn’t pull much of a crowd in Antarctica, but I did get 100% of the 10 people that were out at our remote science base. I don’t think they came because they were into photography; I think they came because they were incredibly bored. We walked around the Dry Valleys for a few hours then returned to the little science hut and pulled out a bunch of booze and then the party really started.

It’s about time… all of these are winners! 🙂 Here’s the new trailer:

Daily Photo – Blade Runner

Here’s a new edit from Dubai that I recently threw together for that proposal in Hollywood. I’ve been focusing a bit more on cross-processing along with an emphasis on the 2:1 framing ratio.

Drama in Thailand

The Mandalorian

Don’t forget to check out this new amazing show! It’s really well done… better than a lot of the movies in a way!

Daily Photo – Drama in Thailand

One evening in Pattaya I sneaked down through the jungle to get up close to this temple. It wasn’t quite open for public consumption yet, but I simply had to get a photo. I thought the outline of the thing was so epic, so I tried to focus on that in post.

The Mudmen of Papua New Guinea

New Techniques in 3D Printing

This is a pretty cool video! How do people come up with this stuff?

3D printing revolutionised by rapid liquid printing from Damnthatsinteresting

Daily Photo – The Mudmen of Papua New Guinea

I should really go back to PNG! I only spent a very small amount of time there, but I got so many interesting photos. I can’t say there is any place like it anywhere else in the world. The tribes and all their crazy costumes made it feel a lot like Burning Man. Well, a Burning Man where they will cut off your head instead of give you a hug… so I guess it’s a BIT different.

Choppy Deep in Papua New Guinea

A Good Travel Article

While I was on my 80 Stays around the World tour with the Ritz-Carlton, this article came out about some of the various destinations. I hope you enjoy!

Daily Photo – Choppy Deep in Papua New Guinea

My first time in Papua New Guinea could not have been more crazy, and that’s saying a lot after leaving a week at Burning Man. I think the thing that made it the craziest was having Choppy there. I’m not exactly sure, but she seems to somehow inject a level of insanity into every situation. And I love it! I’ve figured out one simple thing I like from my friends… to surprise me! And she always does that! 🙂

In Studio in Bang Saray

Daily Photo – In Studio in Bang Saray

My friend Chris Craker has an amazing music studio a bit south of Pattaya in Thailand in a little beach town called Bang Saray. I stayed here for about a week and it was cool to watch so many music artists at work together. I don’t really hang out around musicians… I’m kind of a loner artist on my own, so it was super interesting to watch how they all worked and collaborated together.
