A Long Day at Shackleton’s Hut

Benji in the Door

And since I had time here to be a bit creative, I asked Benji, my field guide, to go out just beyond the door to strike a stoic pose. I knew it would make the photo more interesting!

Daily Photo – A Long Day at Shackleton’s Hut

I felt so lucky to spend a lot of time here. Schedules and weather are a bit crazy in Antarctica. You never know how long you’re gonna be somewhere. Shackleton’s hut is not easy to get to and we had to be choppered in. We didn’t know if we’d have an hour or longer. But it turns out we were there for about 12 hours, which was really awesome because we could take our time and get all the shots we wanted.

Inside the Guided Mirror Room

A great idea for cathedrals!

This place did something I had never seen before. They gave everyone a pretty big mirror you can carry around. You can kind of hold it at your waist and angle it up, so you can look down to see the ceiling instead of looking up. Genius!

Daily Photo – Inside the Guided Mirror Room

See the four mirrors down there on the floor? I was gonna lay out like 50 of them, and I ran back to check my camera to see if they were centered before I added the others. Then, the security guard started yelling at me and rushing over! So I took this photo really fast. (You can see her black visage rapidly approaching on the left!)

The Keys That Bind Us All

More from the Japanese Pavilion at the Biennale

Here’s another photo of this really cool space that I posted a few months ago. That post also talks more about the art piece.

Daily Photo – The Keys That Bind Us All

I liked this place so much that I came back a second time just to take photos. This time I came back with Rene and we had no idea what we would see in the other pavilions Most of the time we were confused… but there was some awesome stuff!

Google Glass in Traditional Tokyo

New Google Glass?

There’s been some rumors of the enterprise edition coming out… I’m really glad they’re keeping the program alive! :)

Daily Photo – Google Glass in Traditional Tokyo

Sagoy! I was walking around during a photowalk and saw this traditionally-dressed girl. She was fascinated by the Glass, so I gave her a go… it was really fun to watch her, so took a few photos along the way!

Beautiful Clouds in Dusseldorf

The Making-Of

The creation of my large format photographs in Dusseldorf…

Daily Photo – Beautiful Clouds in Dusseldorf

This is my favorite area to shoot while in this really cool German town. This is kind of the new media center… lots of crazy architecture and strange stuff happening! Check out those crazy frog-people on the right… Oh, Germany!

Fire Dancing at the First Ever New Zealand Workshop

New Zealand Photo Workshops

Be sure to keep an eye on the Workshops page to see when one or more magically appear! :)

Daily Photo – Fire Dancing at the First Ever New Zealand Workshop

For the first one ever, we decided to get fire dancers out to my house. It was so fun! One problem is we did this on the very first night, and shooting fire dancers is a bit difficult! Now, whenever we do the big dinner at my house, it is on the last night of the event. By that point, everyone is super-duper relaxed and the parties usually get delightfully out of control!

The Only Other Visitor to the Beijing Planning Museum

From inside

Here’s a strange video I made from inside this place…

Daily Photo – The Only Other Visitor to the Beijing Planning Museum

As you can see from the video above, this is a really cool place, but no one is ever there! This is the one other visitor I saw. I think she was also surprised to see me, so we took photos of each other to mark the occasion!

Inside Hendrick’s Bar in Dubai

A big Thank You Again!

To everyone that has joined us on the photo walk thus far! It’s just been absolutely tremendous… should we do it again next year???

Daily Photo – Inside Hendrick’s Bar in Dubai

This is a pretty epic place… it was also a bit strange because I was there alone, so I was showered with attention. See all those different gins in front of me? That’s a little cart they push around that has Hendrick’s gin infused with all sorts of different things. It was like drinking at an awesome medieval apothecary!

Brave Leader of The Arcanum

As long as we’re talking about it…

…why not go fill out an application at The Arcanum? It’s awesome! :)

Daily Photo – Brave Leader of The Arcanum

Here’s a fun/funny photo I took of Pete one day when we got off the helicopter over near Wanaka. We would do tiny little hikes here and there… he was kneeling down on this mountaintop with this vast valley behind him… he looked pretty awesome I thought!

Walking to Yoga

Daily Yoga

I yoga pretty much every day now! It’s so great… really been enjoying it. The days I miss are the ones where I am just way too crazy-busy. I’m trying to keep it up while on the road but having a bit of trouble on some days!

Daily Photo – Walking to Yoga

This is the view at Aro-Ha when you are walking to yoga from the spa area. Not a bad view, eh? That lake out there is Lake Wakatipu and if you follow it around to the left, you get to Queenstown. If you go around the other way, you get to Glenorchy!
