Early Morning in Sydney

Daily Photo – Early Morning in Sydney

I can’t remember if I was up late, or up early on this day but whatever the case it was worth the effort!

The Vastness of Virgin Gorda

Daily Photo – The Vastness of Virgin Gorda

I know that photographers generally are especially mindful of things and scenes around them, and I wonder if landscape photographers are especially mindful of clouds. I look at them like a Native American preparing for a reaping of the maize. I’ve really come to understand and respect a wide variety of cloud patterns, even though there are a few configurations and situations that evade me. I really enjoy being able to predict cloud patterns for the next several hours. I’m not always right, but it is a fun game to play with myself.

These humid, windy skies in Virgin Gorda made for a tumultuous tableau. Everything would change quite quickly, so it was harder to predict several hours away. But I did have a good feeling about this time in particular…I kept a few of the islands in the bottom of the frame so you could get a sense of perspective to see how huge the clouds actually were.

A Harrods in Buenos Aires?

Daily Photo – A Harrods in Buenos Aires?

There are parts of Buenos Aires that are not too safe to walk around by yourself. This part was not so bad when I was there, but there were several abandoned stores around, including this Harrods. I was surprised to see such a nice store in a state of disrepair, especially after visiting its Valhalla-like anchor in London. Out front, there was a man playing the violin alone. It echoed around in a strange way through the acoustics of the tile, the roof, and the lonely streets. There was an Argentine rhythm he mixed into his playing that really transported me to another time and place.

Walking Down to the Lake

Daily Photo – Walking Down to the Lake

As the seasons change the grassy fields around Queenstown and Arrowtown transform into a rainbow of hues, from soft yellows to vibrant greens you can even spot some fiery oranges and reds among the blades. It’s like a magic carpet of colors that invites you to explore and capture every nuance with your camera.

Massive Storm hits Virgin Gorda

Daily Photo – Massive Storm hits Virgin Gorda

This turned out to be one of my favorite spots on Virgin Gorda. There is a long road that trails up and down the island. Along one side of the big mountain, there is a little spot where you can get this perspective. I went up there early to grab photos of the sunset, but I was greeted with the sight of a massive storm rolling in instead!

Lake Wakatipu in the Late Sun

Daily Photo – Lake Wakatipu in the Late Sun

The colors here go a little crazy when the clouds are in the sky! I’m not sure what it is… I think this very cold lake also does something to the air to make it a bit… thicker… or have more moisture in the air… or something!

The Endless Fields of Queenstown

Daily Photo – The Endless Fields of Queenstown

Wandering through the fields one evening, the sunset wouldn’t quit! It just kept going and going… like a painting that changed every few minutes. And a few steps this way and that way would completely change the color situation on the bottom half of the photo. Honestly, there were not many bad combinations!

The Valleys on the Way to Milford Sound

Daily Photo – The Valleys on the Way to Milford Sound

Here’s another one of the images from my 1000 Stories from 1000 Places NFT drop. It sold out in minutes, but they are now available to trade on OpenSea and X2Y2, etc so be sure to check them out.

There are approximately 4,000 places to stop on the drive from Te Anau to Milford, and this is one of them. It’s kind of a must-stop! The scene is crazy-powerful, and it changes throughout the day. I’ve noticed sometimes in the morning it is foggy and hard to see, but it’s still interesting even then. When planning car-trips in New Zealand, it’s best just to add a few extra hours into the experience!

When the sun started going down in Milford Sound, I figured I was going to start using up a lot of memory cards and boy was I right that day…

The Rock Moved So Slowly That I Did Not Notice

Daily Photo – The Rock Moved So Slowly That I Did Not Notice

This is one of the six uber uniques from the collection where the owner on the 31st March 2023 gets the large format physical print!

This is a mysterious place!

This magical place is deep in Death Valley and virtually inaccessible. These massive rocks move across the desert pan, carving trails of time behind them. Countless theories exist about what causes this phenomenon. I stayed here all night, and this was taken just after midnight as the moon rose to make new shadows. I thought the moon might give some clues, but it did not. I lay on the hard pavement near the rock to see if I could sense movement. After half an hour, not only did I see no movement, but I also felt quite redonkulous.

I was completely nude while taking this photo. That has nothing to do with the photo, but I thought you might like to know.
