One of my favorite things to do in NZ has been to explore the various Sounds, in this case I think it was Milford Sound. Always epic.

At one point when driving through Yellowstone, I randomly got out of the car and started walking right into the forest on the edge of the road. There was a thick fog, and the morning sun was low, creating an unexpected box of light. I kept walking and walking until I found this area. It just felt right for whatever reason, so I set up to create this in HDR.

I always loved the colors in this area of Patagonia. And the chunky HDR too. Really captures the ruggedness of the area I think.

How odd…

So yesterday we hit no.1 on the chart for my top performing posts on Instagram. Today, it’s a look at what was no.1 on Pinterest. That’s right, straight to the top and it’s such a bizarre result. I’ve never liked this image, I said so at the time, and I guess looking at it now I’ve kind of softened on it but this was posted in 2010 and now, 13 years later it has resurfaced, on Pinterest, getting double the views of the image in second place. Just odd.

Mainly I’ll focus on Instagram but I’ll drop in a few others towards the end as when they get traction (e.g. Flickr) the stats go crazy. So, here’s number 5 in my most viewed posts of 2023… does that make them the BEST? Not so sure, but for whatever reason they connected with people, or the algorithm!

I explored around this abandoned castle in Iceleand some time ago. It was for sale at the time and I’ve always wondered what happened to that. It’s certainly got a unique look and you’ve got a quiet life out there… maybe not during storms I guess. However what would someone do with it. I know in places like the UK they have loads of rules about people changing old buildings, does Iceland or has someone gone mad with a new style extension to the building…
