I think my favourites are a toss up between Clifford Stoll talking about 1 dimensional wine carafes – http://blog.ted.com/2008/03/clifford_stoll.php , and Mike Rowe celebrating dirty jobs – http://www.ted.com/talks/mike_rowe_celebrates_dirty_jobs.html .
Nice ones, didn’t know Happiness Expert Dan Gilbert yet, great presentation.
One of my personal favorites is Larry Lessig on laws that choke creativity. http://www.ted.com/talks/larry_lessig_says_the_law_is_strangling_creativity.html
Many thanks for sharing them. The ones I already saw are really worthwhile.
Great talks Trey. I had an interesting conversation with my Korean co-workers about the Ken Robinson talk. As you may or may not know, there are some great Korean photographers out there but they are usually middle-aged to late 50′s. I asked why the younger people are not getting into it (excluding self-portraits on cell phones) and that topic came up. The schools and parents force the kids into study which drives out creativity. By the time most Korean students are in high school their day will start at 6:30 am and finish around 12:00 am.
It is interesting to see tis perspective on education and see the point in an extreme case here in South Korea. I am glad you posted these videos. The happiness tak will be part of my next lecture with my co-workers.
[...] of the TED stuff above, I’ve assembled a collection of the Best TED Talks, at least in my opinion. There are many more — I just have not had time to link them up [...]
I think the most humorous one I have watched was http://www.ted.com/talks/lang/eng/rory_sutherland_life_lessons_from_an_ad_man.html
Please also see the one on creativity and obsession by Mythbusters’ Adam Savage. His talk and Mike Rowe’s are two of my favorites.
I think the sixth sense technology was the coolest one. I would recommend you watch it instead of me giving a synopsis.

Thanks for sharing these! I’ve enjoyed them over the past 2 days editing at my computer.

Great list. I’m also a TED fan. If you particularly liked Ted Robinson’s talk, try this one, too.

On the surface, it is about teaching math. In depth, it is about teaching creativity and about our education systems’ tendency to teach formulas rather than critical thinking.
I have a few more of my favorites on my blog.
Ken Robinson’s talk was great. I loved the Hans Rosling talks. He turns statistics into art not to mention the sword swallowing finale. I get them downloaded to iTunes and save my favorites. If you like math, check out the new on by Dan Meyer.
Trey, have you seen this one? It is one of my favorites and I thought you might find it interesting, too: http://www.ted.com/talks/lang/eng/jonathan_harris_collects_stories.html (specifically, the story contexts).
[...] added a few new TED talks to my list that I keep here on the site. If you all have some suggestions, be sure to drop them [...]
Couldn’t get the Wolfram site to tell me anything about “human memory capacity”. I want to know the size of the human hard disk if you like.
[...] still flummoxed about IP and Art, I invite you to see a new perspective from a TED speech. See my Best TED Talks page — there is a new one from Johanna Blakeley who gives a counter-intuitive talk about [...]
I’m so excited to just stroll through your favourite TED talks.
I LOVE TED
As soon as I came to twitter I found TED, and now not a week can go by without me watching for another wild and wonderful talk on TED

A ‘meta’ TED talk : how statistics could help create the ultimate TED talk – tongue-in-cheek, obviously.

perspective. is it what you think? this one is always refreshing.
