Hef and the Italians – Stuck in Customs

Hef and the Italians

Hef to the Rescue

You might remember many photos of Hef flying in Antarctica before, and he saved my bacon many times. In one instance, Stu and I were stranded out near a glacier for a few extra days when a blizzard hit. We were running low on supplies and about to go on a seal hunt! At one magical moment, the weather opened, and Hef swooped in with a rescue flight! Here’s that photo:

Daily Photo – Hef and the Italians

This is not my typical photo, but it is one of those moments between moments. This is in Antarctica, and that manly man there in the middle is Hef. He was our awesome pilot while there. Whenever we refueled, we flew over to the American base at McMurdo to go through the process. There were always other pilots around and all the helicopter guys would hang out and trade crazy heli stories. Those guys in the red Ferrari-outfits are the Italians. Everyone with the orange sleeves were the Kiwis. I think it’s kind of cool how every country has it’s own “uniform” down there.
