A Long Day at Shackleton’s Hu – Stuck in Customs

A Long Day at Shackleton’s Hu

Benji in the Door

And since I had time here to be a bit creative, I asked Benji, my field guide, to go out just beyond the door to strike a stoic pose. I knew it would make the photo more interesting!

Daily Photo – A Long Day at Shackleton’s Hut

I felt so lucky to spend a lot of time here. Schedules and weather are a bit crazy in Antarctica. You never know how long you’re gonna be somewhere. Shackleton’s hut is not easy to get to and we had to be choppered in. We didn’t know if we’d have an hour or longer. But it turns out we were there for about 12 hours, which was really awesome because we could take our time and get all the shots we wanted.
