Camera Bag Stolen in Germany and… New April Lightroom Presets, Live!

April Lightroom Presets, only $2.50 instead of $5

The monthly tradition continues with my Lightroom Presets! I hope you have enjoyed the previous month packs, and here comes a funky-fresh one!

Daily Photo – Amazing Cologne

I loved everything about Cologne… except for my train ride back to Dusseldorf.

My whole camera bag was stolen! Can you believe it? I was distracted and before I knew it, my whole camera bag was swiped in a grab n' run! What a bummer! I still was holding my tripod and A7r, so I didn't lose those, luckily. But I did lost an A7ii, two Leica lenses, and a Sony lens. Ouch! Oh well, it's just stuff… But kind of inconvenient now, you know? Ah well…

I filed out a police report and everything. We're checking on insurance now to see what was covered… fingers crossed but I have low expectations!

Your best pic in a while. Like your others aswell but this one is beatuilful processed. How do you feel about non-dramatic skies? Watching critique sessions from different photographers they always mention that the sky should add some drama and not just black or blue.

Is a nice Pic ,glad you were not hurt in any way with the bag snatching,as you say its just stuff!-to many others its there life’s joy and only just affordable to them like self a big loss.

wow – super beautiful place!! πŸ™‚

  • yes – this is true!

  • I am good with dramatic sky too… but sometimes having some whitespace or nothing there helps to draw attention to the details in the other areas.

Glad you were not hurt. I can relate as I had something similar happen to me at the beginning of this year. But, it was at gunpoint. They got away with my sling bag with my Sony lens, A7r camera body and my FE 70-200 and a bunch of cards and batteries and some cash and my watch. ;-( Very disturbing for me. At least the major items were insured and I didn’t have my Dad’s Leica lenses with me.

where can you get an insurance for camera?

  • Angelika Perry

OMG.. that just makes me feel bad for saying I’m German. I’m so sorry that happened to you; I think I would have thrown a fit but you right; it’s only stuff and I’m glad nothing else bad happened while you where there. Did you loose any pictures? That would have been worse for me… πŸ™

I live in cologne and of course I know that place and this scenery. This picture is so wow! πŸ™‚ I really really love this ratcliffied version. πŸ™‚

Do you have the serial numbers of your stuff? Maybe I find them in a 2nd hand shop?!

  • Cal Mukumoto

So sorry to hear of your loss. It is disheartening to have stuff stolen, especially those hard to replace lenses like the leicas. Best of luck getting insurance, When my bag was stolen from my car (the most recent time it was stolen) my insurance covered everything! I hope the same for you!

  • blomeyer

Sorry to hear that you got your stuff stolen. Maybe should put your stuff up on https://www.lenstag.com and eventually it might show up somewhere on the internet. You only need the serial numbers (EXIF data) and some kind of proof that the stuff is yours.

  • That’s horrible news @google-c1ec23de8292d904dc213eba8bf1d17d:disqus! As others have said, glad you are OK. After much research, I finally found a company in Canada which provides coverage for my 10+ month round-the-world journey; this policy allows for worldwide unlimited travel (for any length of time), whereas most insurance companies limit you to being out of country for only 30-60 days at a time or something like that). (http://multimediarisk.com). Not cheap, but worth it in the end. I hope the best for you. See you soon!!

  • Thanks for all the feedback! πŸ™‚

  • Good link! πŸ™‚

  • I will do that! πŸ™‚

  • Thanks @calmukumoto:disqus πŸ™‚

  • I do! I will look πŸ™‚

  • It’s okay β€” just a few pics @angelikaperry:disqus πŸ™

  • A few options out htere!

  • Oh no @disqus_JI0Ge05svK:disqus ! πŸ™

I ‘m familiar with Cologne, and this is the best picture of the city I’ve ever seen. My question is a simple one: Whwere were you when you took this fabulous picture?

  • stanleyleary

Sorry to hear about your camera loss. I know many readers will want to know are they covered they are in a similar situation. I wrote a blog about camera insurance. I learned from personal experience that not all policies are the same. http://blog.stanleyleary.com/2012/08/camera-insurance.html

  • Yes I did! πŸ™‚

Hello, I too had my camera stolen in Cologne just today. Were you able to find anything out? I’m doing my research on what I possible.

    Good luck, thank you

  • Ben Reinhardt

I have also had my camera gear stolen today in Cologne. Do you know of shops I might search for them in that you could tell me the name of? Thank you

  • Peter Liebetrau

    Hello Ben,
sorry I cannot tell you the name of a shop for stolen cameras. πŸ˜‰
I would just take a look at some of the camera shops in the city.
