Daily Photo – Girl in Austin on Bike

When I was at South by Southwest, we had an amazing photowalk downtown. After the whole thing was over, I spent about an hour saying hello to people and having my picture taken and this sort of thing. I do always enjoy that… having extra time to meet people is always nice.

After I was done, I went into the Driskill to get a few things I left behind. I went out of the lobby to get into Curtis’ car to whisk me away back home when I saw this girl riding one of those pedicabs. I thought she was kinda cute, so I grabbed this quick shot.

“I thought she was kinda cute”…you mean you weren’t sure?! Let me instill some clarity…she is totally cute! Now, seriously, love the toning, the way her hat picks up the ochres in the stonework, and the blue of the door frames her, and is repeated in the shadow tones of her jacket. A seemingly simple shot, but with alot of composition going on, well spotted and taken. Thanks for sharing :)

I recognized that background – love that building. I’ve only been to Austin once but enjoyed incorporating that structure and its windows into several photos. Well done.

Trey, this shot in particular looks very unique compared to your other shots. It doesn’t look HDR at all but rather a film shot. If it wasn’t, your editing process makes it seem like it is. I love the soft tones and would love to see some more of this!
