Cart Racing in Queenstown

Zorbing on the South Island

Do any of my NZ experts know if there is any zorbing on the south island anywhere?  I know there is a lot around Rotorua and stuff… where there are green hills the multiply like rabbits… but surely there must be a few options in the south, yes?

Daily Photo – Cart Racing in Queenstown

This may be my son’s favorite thing about Queenstown!  In the summer, they open up this area at the top of the mountain where you can luge all day long.  He never gets tired of it – and neither do I!  When we go back, we’ll have to see if we can get some kind of a season pass or something.

He gets a little rough, and he’s a little bit ruthless.  But I have a good 100 pounds on him, which helps everywhere except for the curves.  He spins around the corners like Yoshi, and I’m a little more like Bowser…

Yes! This is as close as you can get to actually being there!

  • What a gorgeous setting! Sounds like great adventures to come for you and Ethan!

What a wonderful scene and sharp, love the lake and snow caped tips

  • Zorbing – Not that I know of, mate. You could always buy a ‘zorb’ ball and use our paddocks though… Just be sure to dodge the horses, alpacas and the goat! 😉

Nice shot from Skyline… Thats pretty much exactly what the sky looked like an hour ago as I was driving home. A real killer sunset!

  • I think i’d get carsick going down that crazy winding chicane – If I was to compare myself driving skills to a Mario Kart character then it would probably be Baby Mario or Princess Toadstool – I would definitely be a powderpuff on the track however firing explosive toroise shells at my opponenets would make up for my poor driving skills.

Hey Trey – this view looks familiar (I took this back in 2007 – before I heard about HDR ;).

  • …and now I’m planning a trip to New Zealand, centered around this track.

  • Wow, beautiful photo, Trey!!!  Looks like a fun place to go, glad you and your son got to enjoy it.  I love the background the best, with the sky, mountains, and river!!!!!  Have a great Tuesday!! 🙂

  • Trey – He’s going to catch up with you weightwize! Then watch out.   I used to be able to outski my son on the slopes until he was about 15, then he just zoomed past my like a flash.  Great picture of the track and sunset.

Ha Ha, that sounds like a blast. What an absolutely incredible track. And a great picture as well, that sunset is outstanding Trey.
I caught my dad weight wise at 19 which leveled the field when we would wrestle I thought. Then he started using Judo! Sneaky old guy.

  • Geez….it is pretty in NZ…paved track with-standing.   You are gonna miss all our US prettiness though.  🙂
