Daily Photo – Monkey Monkey

This might be the dumbest name for any photo ever, but all bets are off with these snow monkeys.

Did you know that Nolan Ryan from the Texas Rangers has a bunch of snow monkeys in South Texas? Oh yes, listen here. Really – listen! :)

Nolan Ryan… maybe the greatest of all time. 7 no-hitters and 4 of those were after the age of 40 I believe. Cool monkey shot too!

I made a calendar for my family last year and the December photo was a couple of snow monkeys I photographed at Central Park Zoo but in hindsight they were the least festive looking snow monkeys ever and no one had a clue why I stuck them in there. What gets me about these guys that you saw in the wild is how tame they are – it’s terrific you got so close without upsetting them! Doubt I could ever own one as apet though – I have enough trouble controlling my budgie and my cockatiel!

Nice shot! I gotta make it up to Nagano sometime and find these guys to photo. Was this at an onsen, Trey? A buddy of mine who lives in the area keeps telling me about an onsen I need to go to where you bathe right with the monkeys. Seems they are used to humans, fairly tame, and don’t cause any problems so are allowed to stick around.
