Daily Photo – The Private Pool at Hearst

This is the second photo of this pool I have published. It’s from the other side — the wider side. How cool would it be to have a little party in here. Let’s set that up!

    Opulence. I has it.

Funny you should ask that, Trey. Apparently you *can* organize parties there, if the price is right. One of my friends goes every year for winning a charity bike marathon of some sort. I think the price is around $10k for 20 people, or something similar.

The question is whether one would rent it for a photo shoot…or a pool party.

Trey is this a hand held HDR?

Man Trey, that water is so smooth it looks like a glossy floor. Great symmetry in this shot.

  • Pete Halewood

This is a stunning shot Trey. I thought it looked familiar but doesn’t take anything away from it, the detail in the arichtecture is amazing and of course the colour tone is similarly fantastic.

  • Kelley Bard

love the detail and texture… and the rich, rich blues.

  • Michael Myerscough

This is one of those ‘I love HDR shots’. The fact you’re able to retain detail and warmth in that back room is just beautiful.

  • Matthew K

Used to be private. Now part of the California State Park system. Beautiful photo, though.

@Daniel – nice shot. Hearst Castle is such a beautiful place. I always wonder what it would have been like if Hearst had been able to complete it.

  • Trey Ratcliff

    Thank you!

Hearst Castle is very near to home for me, about 15 minutes (in the old, American life). It was lovely to see this photo and in fact, does remind me of a very great party at the pool! :)

a daily giggle: I was working in a winery near to the Castle and had a tour bus of Chinese visitors enter the tasting room. People rushed to the bathroom, bought bottles, and one lady was nearly jumping up and down with excitement “now we are going to Hershey’s Castle!!!!! wine is VERY good with chocolate!”
I didn’t know how to break it to her that this was not a chocolate castle, so instead I smiled and rang her up…
