New HDR Tutorial

Free HDR Tutorial Video

Okay now that I let it out there with a smaller beta crowd, we can make it official! The HDR Tutorial has been totally re-made and we’ve worked out all the bugs. Also, I made a new video to accompany it that shows how I at least start the process. Enjoy!

Daily Photo – Snow in Nikko

It was a freezing cold morning when I woke up to explore this temple area of Nikko. Luckily, I was the first person to arrive, and I was pretty much alone for this early morning because of the snow. It gave me a peaceful period to explore with my music on… taking my time and moving around the temple to take in the big picture and all the nice little details.

Well done on the new tutorial mate! I’ve done a few for personal friends with specific questions relating to post processing, but they have made their way to many people who ask for help, haha… I’m sure the newcomers to HDR will love this :)
I’ve gotta find time to get out and take photos… And do some post processing as well. Got so many other projects on the go it’s not funny! Websites need building, Macs need fixing, Ahhhhh! Well, there goes my 5 minute daily break on Stuck in Customs, back to work ;)
PS: Nice photo from Japan, looks about the same amount of snow we have here in Queenstown now, hoping for another drop tonight!

So rich in colors, very nice!

Another Wonderful photo, Trey. I don’t know how you get enough processed to show us a new one each day. I’ve been busy shooting and have a bunch to process. I’m still learning this HDR stuff. Appreciate the tutorial.

Great image as always Trey, although I still can’t fathom snow there after the few weeks of mid to high 30 degree temps we faced there recently!

I feel all Christmasy now woohoo – this one has a great festive vibe to me – what a wonderful place to explore in the snow! Bizarrely we are having unusually nice weather here in Scotland which I used wisely over the weekend to go out and get some new shots – not my usual type of stuff, I think it’s nice to keep things fresh and try out new stuff :-

Love the colors in this image. The snow really adds a nice touch.

Wonderful shot Trey – I like the subtle golden tones on the buildings… sure looks all Christmassy! :-)
I’ve recently been photographing in the snow… anyone who’s a fan of the film “The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe” will like this photo, as it’s taken from where the final battle scenes were filmed – Castle Hill, Canterbury (NZ)… enjoy!

I love rich architecture. For me, nothing tops Japanese architecture and decorating. Wonderful photo Trey. Thank you for sharing your travels.

Very nice video! The colors in the Japanese temples are great, looking at this photo on a hot day like today, just makes you feel a little cooler, thanks for sharing!

Getting time to wander around an interesting place alone is a treat in itself. My only problem would be the snow. Being a native Floridian without much experience, I tend to slip and fall on my butt every time I’m around the stuff.

Nice, HDR really brings out the intricate detail in Japanese architecture.

    Hey Trey,
Just out of curiosity, how did you get photomatix to have the “Dark Gray” color scheme? I would love to work that way.
    Great tutorial!

    Thanks all!

Joshua – I think I am just using the latest beta – that is all!
