Distant Rocks Off Ibiza

Giveaway and Feedback

Thanks you guys so much for the good feedback on the Webinar. P.S. Don’t forget to reply on that thread if you want to enter to win the grand prize.

It was fun to start it on Mother’s Day, and we were able to give away a Drobo to Celia from TN. She sent Andrea a note that said, “This was such a surprise ending to the 1st class. This is the cherry on top of my already wonderful Mother’s Day. I look forward to making great use of the Drobo. The Stuck In Customs crew did a GREAT job on the first in the series of the webinar classes. I am looking forward to 8 more great classes.”

Daily Homework: Distant Rocks Off Ibiza

I gave the class 138 of my original RAW photos, right out of the camera. Their assignment was to begin working with these ones off Ibiza. I made this during class, so I wanted to go ahead and post it here. BTW, if you’re having trouble logging into the Clubhouse to get the files, be sure to contact support@stuckincustoms.com.

I took photos all throughout the sunset, before and after. I visited this spot 3 different times. Of the three times, this was one of the best. There was about a quarter-mile strip of beach and rock, all of which had good angles. So I kind of worked my way back and forth as the light changed…

Love this one Trey, something about these kinds of locations is really magical… Especially piers leading off into the distance. Reminds me of this photo I took towards the end of last year: http://www.flickr.com/photos/edenbrackstone/5338792040/
Webinar sounds like a lot of fun, wish I could be there :)

Lovely colours as usual Trey! I particularly like the water in this one – just enough blur and that azure colour you only seem to get in the Mediterannean. After following your photos for many years, I’ve finally decided to get mine on the web. Would appreciate any comments/feedback from anyone!

Simply perfect!! As always you take fantastic pictures!

Nice shot Trey – I like the motion blur of the waves/swell gently lapping on the rocks… wonderful sunset colours and clouds too! As for the composition, I prefer this angle… http://stuckincustoms.smugmug.com/Portfolio-The-Best/your-favorites/10668747_AuyBk#1027298686_CLNPH-A-LB

Being based in the UK, I’m eager to finish work and go home and watch the webinar. It takes place at like 3am I think our time so very difficult to catch the webinar ‘live’. The feedback sounds great though and can’t wait to start working with the RAW files. Another great picture Trey…

Love it… Just as good if not better than the original one you posted a while back :).

Been crazy busy recently so haven’t really had the time to comment, ( I always have time to look at the site though ) :P.

Quiet allot has happened my end recently so it’s all going well, one question I have is will you be to pay for the webinar class’s after you have finished them atall? ( To just view the online web casts after )?

    Thanks Dan!

Trey, thanks very much for sharing your ideas, philosophy, work-flow and techniques with us last night. It was definitely a fun webinar and even though I have been processing hdr images for some time now, I still picked up a couple of new tips from you when you showed how this image was created. Really great stuff and definitely worth the price of admission! I’m really looking forward to tomorrow’s session.

    Thanks all!

Dan – Yes, you won’t be able to get all the webinar content for free after the event (unless you are registered for the event) — sorry about that.

Tim – Thanks! And cool that you are about to bring your stuff online. I hope it is a good experience for you… remember it will take a loooong time before people start to notice, but it’s good to get in the habit now.

Perfect sunset shot, love the warm summer atmosphere. But there is one “thing” I miss in the shot! Where is your Italian friend Wendy? Seems like you had lots of fun yesterday, too bad I can’t be part of it. :(

  • http://www.stuckincustoms.com Trey Ratcliff

Ahhhh Wendy…. yes where is that girl? Do I have more photos of her or not? (yes I do)

Trey, it was great to observing you in action last night! I’ve had all of the puzzle pieces in hand for awhile, but watching you go through the steps finally made the big picture clear – looking forward to the next eight!

I thought I knew what I was doing with my processing and it’s good, but I learned some new things that will make it even better and this was only the first webinar.

Wonderful mister! Every time I see your shots from Ibiza it makes me want to go back to the Island and avenge all those wasted nights spent in the boozers of San Antonio!

  • Simon Morris

For all those that are missing our friend Wendy – I put a link to her in my previous post (5) above… enjoy! ;-)

Nice composition Trey, but it appears a little soft. It may be the screen I’m on, but would be curious to see if anyone else sees it(especially at the end of the pier). And no, I’m not analyzing it at a pixel by pixel level. :)
