Daily Photo – Mikimoto

It wasn’t until my third trip to Tokyo that I finally got to explore more of Ginza. It’s a pretty high-toned area that is filled with the best of the best. Every elite store you can think of is fully represented, and the designers have pulled out all the stops to make sure they get noticed.

Although not on the main street, this amazing Mikimoto store grabbed my eye. I walked around the building a few times to find an interesting angle and shot away!

I wish more cities had this type of storefront – heck even the buildings just out of frame look pretty interesting – Love how the passersby are nicely silhouetted with just a touch of motion – adds interest to the shot.

This is a great building, only surpassed by going inside and actually buying something – that experience is a must! Love the service and the attention to detail when wrapping and finally presenting you with your completed purchase.

Did you also photograph the De Beers headquarters a couple of buildings away? Another spectacular piece of architecture.

That’s a pretty wild building. I don’t make it to Ginza very often, so it’s new to me. Some of the modern design here is pretty crazy.

Looks great. I went there last year and really want to go back.

Just a quick question, what focusing technique do you use. I noticed yesterday and on some other comments you made that you focused on infinity. Do you always do this?

Cheers – looking forward to release date of London workshop!!

John – Yes I also got the awesome De Beers building for a future post!

Duncan – Yes, I usually find the most interesting thing and focus on that. Usually it is at infin!

Awesome pic as always. How wide were you? 12mm? In a lot of your pics it looks like you are literally standing in the middle of the street. Are you? :)

Wow, my town has boring buildings.. so unfair. ;)
