Los Angeles for E3

I think this is my seventh E3 in a row – and I won’t say trite things like it was crazy or mind numbing, even though it was. There were all sorts of cool stuff there and it was great to see the next-gen stuff. The frame rates seemed a bit slow, but Microsoft assured that it would get faster and Microsoft is never wrong.

EA had the coolest booth as usual – this screen actually went around the entire room and it was totally seamless…I have no idea how they did this. But it was cool and I was glad to be wearing a diaper (as always).

Finally going home to Austin from Korea

You know you have been in one place too long when you actually end up being friends with the hotel staff. Below is a picture of Rara. She playfully says, “You know – like Rara Croft!”

Seoul

And that got me thinking – I have noticed my name “Trey” is hard to pronounce by most Koreans. Since I have met a lot of Koreans that have “English” names like Rachel or Paul (their real names being something only a dolphin can pronounce), I have decided to make myself a “Korean” name. So, from now on, I will ask all my Korean friends to call me “King Kong”.

MMO Tobacco Ads in Korea???

So people like gaming soooo much in Korea that it has even bled over into other industries. This big tobacco company is now actually advertising by using MMO fantasy characters as the main enticement. These ads are EVERYWHERE in Korea – this is one from a convenience store by my place.

Exploring the countryside of Korea

I headed out of Seoul today to explore the countryside a bit and went to Namhansanseong, a huge mountain fortress in the south. The weather was perfect for hiking – but I couldn’t quite make it around all 9.5 km of fortress walls. In fact I only hiked about 1/10th of the distance. In fact, I only thought about going that far, and just hung out at the drink stand.

Occasionally I would get really disoriented and wondered if, by accident, I wandered into North Korea. I did check my shoes for enriched Uranium, but I found none, so I figured everything must be okay.

Hail in Austin!

So after I got back from my trip, there was this huge Summer storm in Austin that dumped all this hail at our house. Ethan had a blast playing in it – obviously his mom was not home and that is why I was able to get away with taking him outside in shorts. This is just one of many bad decision I have made as a dad.
